Aluminium phosphide (rice pill) is a very toxic substance. Although its use is banned in Iran, but it is still used to protect stored rice and grains against rodents and other household pests. Acute and deliberate poisoning by agricultural pesticides is a global public health problem. Management of rice pill poisoning is mainly supportive treatment and unfortunately, it does not have an effective antidote.
Due to the increase in mortality and poisoning with this substance, effective studies have been performed in this center by inducing aluminium phosphide poisoning in rats. In this type of experimental study, the animal received rice pill orally in full compliance with ethical and hygienic principles and then subjected to subsequent evaluations.
Research and study conditions for students and researchers who want to study in this field, provided at the Experimental Medicine Research Center.
